ADDITIONAL DETAILS: This issue of The Thing Quarterly takes the form of a fully functional gingham-patterned soccer ball, designed by artist Michelle Grabner. It was made in response to critic Ken Johnson’s New York Times review of Grabner’s exhibition at James Cohan Gallery, in which he referred to her work as being like that of a boring soccer mom. In addition to the soccer ball, this issue includes a pamphlet with a brief introduction, an interview with Michelle Grabner conducted by editor Jonn Herschend, and a reproduction of Joe Fyfe's review of the review in Hyperallergic.
